Pune: When Ketan Agarwal’s family travelled to Gulbarga in Karnataka for a wedding in February this year, they didn’t expect to return with one of their own to plan. It was at that wedding that they first met Siya Goyal and her family, also in attendance, two families who had known each other since the 1990s but had never considered a match between their children. Within days, that changed. On 12 and 13 February, the families discussed the alliance. By 19 February, just a week later, Ketan and Siya were engaged at a hotel in Pune.
