The Cottonwood Fire started Monday afternoon in Fishlake National Forest near Cottonwood Campground off State Road 153. Fueled by dry vegetation, low humidity, and wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph, the fire spread rapidly overnight to over 27,000 acres. Officials believe the fire was human caused, KUTV reported, and it remains 0% contained.
