With the world witnessing a global fuel shortage, resulting in price hikes not only on roads but in air as well, ‘travelling’ is not exactly what many are prioritising. However, among Goa admirers, it seems, Goa’s charm is still quite strong. As per the data released by the Goa Tourism Department, the state welcomed over 46 lakh tourists from January to May in 2026. The fuel shortage, followed by airfare hikes and such, began soon after February 2026, which is when the Middle East conflict got triggered, resulting in the disruption of the Strait of Hormuz. However, despite all the hurdles, 4,639,165 tourists still visited Goa.
