re-neet 2026 mock drill from 1 pm today across 5,500+ centres; 2 lakh personnel deployed

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has finalised Re-NEET 2026 preparations, with a nationwide mock drill scheduled for this afternoon at all examination centres across the country. The practice drill will be held from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM to gauge question paper handling, exam readiness, and examination security.

The testing agency is set to conduct the mock drill at more than 5,500 centres across 551 Indian cities, in the presence of 2 lakh security personnel and under multi-layered security arrangements.

“Question papers, once delivered to nodal centres, will be secured by the Central Armed Police Forces,” NTA sources told Times Now Digital.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will keep a close watch on the Re-NEET UG 2026 question papers until the examination process commences.

The testing agency has set up 97 examination centres across Delhi, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and select Delhi government schools. Media representatives will not be granted entry inside the centres during the dry run.

NTA has reiterated that the enhanced safeguards have been introduced to ensure the foolproof conduct of Re-NEET.

Detailing the multi-layered security framework, NTA informed through its latest notification that authorities are implementing end-to-end secure handling of confidential materials to designated locations under sealed protocols, GPS-enabled vehicles with police escorts for the movement of examination materials, CCTV surveillance at all examination centres with feeds linked to centralised control rooms, and mandatory frisking through high-sensitivity metal detectors before entry, along with strengthened manpower and equipment at every centre. In addition, Aadhaar-based biometric authentication is being implemented to deter impersonation.

Re-NEET 2026 is scheduled to be held on June 21, 2026, across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad for over 22.79 lakh candidates. The examination will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM (IST) in pen-and-paper mode. Candidates with disabilities (PwD/PwBD) who are eligible for compensatory time will be permitted to write the examination until 6:20 PM.
