In a tragic incident, a Gurugram man, working at the under-construction Income Tax Building, died after falling from the 12th floor. The building was located in the Sector-53 area of Cyber City, Gurugram. The incident caused a stir at the construction site and has left the deceased’s family devastated.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Akbar Alam, a native of Katihar, Bihar. Akbar was working as a foreman at the site and was responsible for supervising the work. Like usual, he was busy with his duties on the 12th floor when he suddenly lost his balance and fell straight down from that height.
Alam sustained severe injuries from the fall and died on the spot, the police said.
Immediately after the accident, the deceased’s family and colleagues informed the local Gurugram police. A police team arrived at the scene promptly to assess the situation. The police took possession of the body and moved it to the Civil Hospital mortuary. Subsequently, a post-mortem was conducted, and the body was handed over to the family for the last rites.
This tragic incident has once again raised serious questions regarding the safety of workers and employees at construction sites. The police are now thoroughly investigating whether adequate safety measures—such as safety nets or harnesses—were in place at the workplace. Further legal action is currently underway based on the statements provided by the family.
