After British-Era Jibe, Cockroach Party’s Protest Goes From 'Lights Off' To 'Lights On' At Jantar Mantar

after british-era jibe, cockroach party’s protest goes from 'lights off' to 'lights on' at jantar mantar

Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Saturday accused of the authorities of putting restrictions on lighting and water bottles at the Jantar Mantar. However, a few minutes after claiming that the Delhi Police has switched off the lights at the protest site while also restricting access to water, food and washrooms, the satirical party claimed the authorities have reversed restrictions on water bottles and lighting at the protest site.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have rejected the application of Dipke to extend its protest at Jantar Mantar and stated that the continuation of the demonstration beyond the permitted hours is a violation of the permission, warning that in view of the violations he will be liable for appropriate legal action under relevant provisions of law.

However, despite police’s rejection of request, the CJI still continues to protest at Jantar Mantar.

From ‘Lights Off’ To ‘Lights On’

Earlier, Dipke and his party members criticised the restrictions, urging authorities to allow drinking water inside the protest site and switch on the lights. Additionally, the CJP founder also drew a comparison of the current regime with that of the colonial rule and remarked: “Even the British used to give water and food.”

Taking to X, he wrote, “No water, no food, no street light, no washrooms being allowed by Police.”

However, hours later, the CJP in a post on X announced that the situation had changed, claiming that water bottles were being allowed inside and that the lights at Jantar Mantar had been switched on.

“Jantar Mantar is lit with Josh! Water was allowed inside and lights are on! Please stay tuned for further updates!” he said in a fresh statement.

High-Octane Drama At Jantar Mantar

Pressing for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET issue, the cockroach party on Saturday announced that they won’t leave Jantar Mantar until the Union Minister quits, extending their protest beyond the permissible hours. Dipke appealed to the police to extend their permission to protest at Jantar Mantar and asked to open a channel with the government for talks.

Following this, CJP asked more people to join their agitation, saying, “Delhi, it’s time to show up!” They also called students, parents, and all the concerned citizens to gather at Jantar Mantar at 6 pm on Saturday.

As soon as clock turned 5, the police calmly asked protesters to vacate the protest site. However, a high drama unfolded as protesters started showering flowers at the police personnel and stayed back at the site.
