A tornado was confirmed in Florence, Kentucky, early Wednesday after the National Weather Service (NWS) upgraded a tornado warning for parts of northern Kentucky and urged residents to seek immediate shelter. The warning initially covered Florence, Erlanger and Burlington until 1:00 a.m. ET. Shortly afterwards, the NWS confirmed that a tornado had been detected and issued an urgent message warning residents of an active and dangerous weather situation.
