With artificial intelligence dominating conversations across the technology industry, many expected Google CEO Sundar Pichai to spend most of his Stanford University commencement speech discussing AI. After all, the search giant is one of the companies leading the global AI race. But that’s not quite how things unfolded. Speaking to graduating students at Stanford, his alma mater, Pichai surprised the audience by intentionally steering away from AI as the central theme of his speech. Instead, he opened with a light-hearted joke about his own name.
