For years, aircraft flying overhead were a distant sight for farmers of Jewar as they worked in the fields of western Uttar Pradesh, but on Monday, those same farmers found themselves preparing to board an aircraft for the very first time from Noida International Airport, an aviation hub built on land once cultivated by families like theirs. The atmosphere at the airport was filled with excitement, curiosity, and emotion as families, farmers, and groups of women gathered for a symbolic flight to Lucknow ahead of the airport’s commercial operations.
