The Ranga Billa case, also known as the Geeta and Sanjay Chopra kidnapping case, took place in Delhi. On August 26, 1978, Geeta Chopra (16) and Sanjay Chopra (14), children of a naval officer, Captain Madan Mohan Chopra, left their Dhaula Kuan residence to go to the radio station. Geeta was supposed to sing on a programme. Since they couldn’t walk down to the radio station due to heavy rains, the siblings accepted a lift in a stolen Fiat car driven by Kuljeet Singh and Jasbir Singh, famously called Ranga and Billa, who were on the run for almost two weeks.
