Of the hundreds of videos, interviews and conversations that emerged from the Cockroach Janta Party protest on Saturday, one theme kept surfacing. Instead of students, examinations or accountability, the discussion repeatedly circled back to the people who had shown up. ‘He once had links with AAP, is he trying to make AAP 2.0?’ ‘He praised Amit Shah in the past, what can possibly be his agenda?’ ‘He made a video on BJP’s Kolkata victory, can he really be trusted?’ ‘She has spoken favourably about Rahul Gandhi, is she politically motivated?’ or ‘He returned from the US and couldn’t handle the heat, what right does he have to protest?’
