A wanted criminal with 17 cases against him was injured in an exchange of fire with police near Delhi’s Moolchand Metro Station after he allegedly opened fire on a team attempting to arrest him.
The accused, identified as Sonu, was tracked down following a tip-off about his movement. Police laid a trap in a lane near the metro station and signalled him to stop when he arrived on a motorcycle.
According to police, Sonu allegedly opened fire instead of surrendering, prompting officers to retaliate. During the brief gunfight, he sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was overpowered.
Sonu, described as a “bad character” of Govindpuri Police Station, is allegedly involved in 17 criminal cases. He was shifted to a hospital for treatment, while further investigation into the case is underway.
