More than 100 firefighters are tackling a large fire at a recycling centre in southeast London, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said. Fifteen fire engines were deployed to the scene on Landmann Way in Bermondsey after emergency services were called shortly after 17:30 local time on Monday.
The LFB urged residents in the area to keep windows and doors closed because of the significant amount of smoke being produced by the fire. People were also advised to avoid the area while crews worked to bring the blaze under control.
Images and videos shared on social media showed large plumes of smoke rising above parts of southeast London.
