The vessel targeted was the MT Davina, a stateless supertanker capable of carrying up to two million barrels of crude oil, as per a report from Reuters. US forces carried out what the military described as a maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the ship, which was located in the Indian Ocean within the Indo-Pacific Command area of responsibility.
