'i pray to my god, my goddess and my thalapathy': tvk worker worships cm vijay's statue everyday

A devoted supporter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay captured public attention for worshipping a statue of the actor-turned-politician at his home and performing daily rituals in his honour. Sukumar, a worker of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), said he has kept a statue of Vijay in his puja room for the past year and offers prayers to it everyday alongside the deities worshipped by his family.

“I pray to my God, my Goddess, and my Thalapathy. For the past year, I have kept his statue in my puja room and prayed,” Sukumar said while expressing his admiration for the Chief Minister.

The TVK worker described Vijay’s rise to the state’s top political office as nothing short of extraordinary. Recalling the scepticism that surrounded the party’s electoral prospects, Sukumar said many had doubted whether TVK could make a significant impact in the elections, but see today Thalapathy is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

“We worked for Vijay and achieved a miracle victory. People said we might win only a few seats and never secure the Chief Minister’s post. But everything changed — Thalapathy is now the Chief Minister. It is a proud moment,” he added.

Sukumar added that his entire family has faith in Vijay’s leadership and believes he will work for the welfare and development of Tamil Nadu.

The display of devotion reflects the deep emotional connection many supporters continue to share with Vijay, whose transition from cinema icon to political leader has inspired a loyal following across the state.

Such expressions of admiration from fans and party workers have long been a hallmark of Tamil Nadu’s political culture, where film stars often command intense public loyalty that extends beyond the screen.
