Nissan’s Creta Rival Spotted Testing — New Tekton Details Leak Ahead of July 9 Debut

nissan’s creta rival spotted testing new tekton details leak ahead of july 9 debut

Nissan’s upcoming mid-size SUV, the Tekton has been spotted on test again — still under the same camouflage wrap from previous sightings. The 9 July 2026 debut is confirmed for the model. This is Nissan stepping back into a segment it exited when the Kicks was pulled out in 2023. The car uses the same platform as the Renault Duster but has its own exterior design. Pricing is expected somewhere between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 18 lakh which puts it in the same consideration set as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos as well as Tata Sierra.

What Does the Tekton Actually Look Like?

The front is the biggest departure from the Duster. It takes design cues from the Nissan Patrol — LED headlamps, connected DRLs, a wide grille with two chrome strips and front and rear dual-tone bumpers. The Tekton name sits on the bonnet. From the side, it is largely the same story as the Duster — squared wheel arches, black door trim along with door handles on the rear tucked into the window line. The alloy wheels are expected to be 18-inch with a Tekton-specific design. At the back, you will find a connected LED taillamp bar and a roof spoiler. One difference from the Duster — the tailgate is expected to be single-tone rather than two-tone.

Inside, the dashboard will get soft-touch surfaces with blue, black and copper accents. The infotainment screen is expected to face the driver similar to the Duster’s layout. On higher trims, you are likely looking at dual screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, Qi 2 magnetic wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats as well as a powered tailgate. Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera are also on the expected list.

Which Engines Will It Get?

The powertrain story is straightforward — the Tekton is expected to share engines with the Duster. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol puts out about 100 hp and 166 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual. The 1.3-litre turbo-petrol makes 160 hp and 280 Nm and should be available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT. The 1.8-litre strong-hybrid with e-CVT — which the Renault Duster does have in India — may also make it to the Tekton. That has not been confirmed.

Should You Wait or Book the Duster Now?

July 9 is just the reveal date — actual sales will come later. So there is no immediate pressure either way. If you are already seriously looking at the Duster, the Tekton is the same mechanical package with a different face and Nissan dealership support behind it. Pricing should be in a similar range, though the exact variant-to-feature breakdown will only be known post-reveal. Sitting on your decision until the full picture is out on July 9 makes more sense than guessing now.
