NVIDIA has been shaking the industry with one step after another. Now, the company has moved all the focus on AI PCs right after CEO Jensen Huang launched a new chip that will take artificial intelligence capabilities directly into laptops and desktop computers. And industry leaders have been agreeing with the same for a long time, as HP last week said that AI-optimised computers helped scale its quarterly results. On that note, here we have explained what AI PCs actually are and why NVIDIA CEO is betting on them.
What Are AI PCs?
According to the manufacturers, AI PCs are computers designed specifically with dedicated hardware and software to run AI tasks directly on the device instead of relying on cloud servers. One of the biggest differences between AI PCs and regular ones is that the former packs a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) alongside a GPU and CPU.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Says AI Is Hiring More Software Engineers, Not Replacing Them
As for the capabilities, these PCs can provide AI-powered image generation, local AI assistants, coding assistance, real time language translation, and a lot more. And some of the elite AI PCs can also be used to support training AI models locally on the device.
PC manufacturers say that these kind of powerful AI features will help attract more buyers as a majority of the audience is inclined towards generative AI.
As for Jensen Huang, he believes that AI PCs could become the next major upgrade cycle for the PC industry and let users harness the full potential of AI applications. The NVIDIA CEO says that AI makes workers more productive, and more AI software means demand for more powerful computers. In a recent statement, he also said that AI is not coming for the jobs of software engineers; instead, it will create more vacancies.
