The figure was higher in previous years, with AQI levels of 231 in 2024, 213 in 2023, 238 in 2022, 235 in 2021, 237 in 2019 and 243 in 2018. During the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, the AQI had fallen sharply to 181 due to reduced traffic and industrial activity, as per reports.
