A massive asteroid roughly the size of an aeroplane is set to make a close approach to Earth tonight, and space agencies are keeping a close eye on it. The asteroid, designated 2023 BM4, is expected to pass our planet on May 30, 2026, at around 12:00 AM IST. While the flyby sounds dramatic, there is no reason to panic. According to NASA’s asteroid tracking data, the space rock will safely pass Earth at a distance of approximately 4.68 million kilometres, which is more than 12 times farther than the Moon’s average distance from our planet.
