Supreme Court To Get 5 New Judges As SC Collegium Clears Names Of Four HC Chief Justices, Senior Advocate

Earlier this month, the government issued an ordinance raising the number of Supreme Court judges by four, taking the total sanctioned strength of SC judges from 34 to 38, including the Chief Justice of India (CJI). The law ministry notified the ordinance, which amended the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Act, 1956, to increase the sanctioned strength of the top court.
