In India’s fascinating on-track rivalry, Gurindervir, who is fondly called Guri, first broke Animesh’s 10-month-old national record of 10.18 seconds by clocking 10.17 seconds in the first semifinal heat on Friday. Within a span of five minutes, Animesh reclaimed the national record with a blistering run, leaving his competitors and onlookers in awe. He clocked 10.15 seconds in the second semifinal heat.
