Recreated versions of iconic songs have always triggered strong debate in Bollywood; however, the issue has now taken a legal turn. Amid Rajiv Rai’s battle with the Dhurandhar makers, producer Vashu Bhagnani recently filed a legal case against the makers of the Varun Dhawan-starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, alleging that Chunnari Chunnari from Biwi No 1 was recreated for the film without his consent. He initiated legal proceedings against Tips Music Limited and other parties, accusing them of unauthorised use and commercial exploitation of intellectual property rights that are owned by Pooja Entertainment. On Friday, May 22, Bhagnani addressed the media at a press conference regarding the ongoing legal dispute linked to the alleged use of songs, visuals, and other content from his films.
