US Iran Israel War Live Updates: ‘Don’t Overestimate Your Cards,’ UAE Warns Iran As Surprise Attack Fears Grow

Activists released after Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla have alleged torture, sexual assault and other forms of abuse while in Israeli custody.

According to organisers of the flotilla, several participants required hospital treatment following their release, while multiple activists reported sexual assaults and physical mistreatment. The group claims Israeli forces detained at least 430 people from 50 vessels intercepted in international waters while attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.

Among those speaking publicly was Italian economist Luca Poggi, who told Reuters that detainees were allegedly stripped, kicked, subjected to electric shocks from tasers and, in some cases, denied access to legal representation. Organisers also alleged the use of rubber bullets and serious physical violence against participants.

Italian authorities have reportedly opened investigations into possible offences including kidnapping, torture and sexual assault. Israeli authorities have not yet publicly responded to the latest allegations.
