Who Is Pushing Back?
Not everyone is on board. Earlier this year, a group of military veterans and historic preservationists filed a lawsuit seeking to block the arch from being built. Their case rests on two main arguments: first, that the project never received the required congressional approval, and second, that a structure of this size would disrupt the solemn experience of visiting Arlington National Cemetery and block the long-standing sightline from the cemetery toward the Lincoln Memorial.
