The Super Kings have now failed to qualify for the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. Prior to the 2024 season, there had been only two seasons (2020, 2022) in which the Chennai-based side had not reached the second round of the competition. Even if the two years they were not part of the competitions (2016, 2017) are counted, this is the first time CSK will not feature in the playoffs for three years in a row in the IPL.
