When Billie was in her first year of graduation, she and her partner, Karen Hantze, became the youngest team to win a Wimbledon doubles title. At that time, King was just 17, and Karen was a year older than her. They held the record till 1996 when the team of Martina Hingis and Helena Suková dethroned the pair. Her first singles major came in 1966 when she won the Wimbledon title. A year later, she defended her Wimbledon crown and also won the US Open. In 1968, she went to defend her US Open title. 1969 was the best year for Billie Jean King when she won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
