World Earth Day 2026: Why Keeping Your Phone Longer Matters More Than You Think

For your context, CO₂ is the major greenhouse gas that is responsible for global warming. When a large amount of this gas is released into the atmosphere, it traps the heat that otherwise would have escaped into space. This process is known as the greenhouse effect, and eventually, it will lead to our planet becoming warmer. It will further have severe climate shift effects, such as heatwaves, melting glaciers, and rising sea levels. These changes at the end disrupt agriculture, drain out water resources, and increase wildfires. The issue is alarming on a broader level, but it seems like one. Sometimes, a lens to change our perspective is what we need.
