Times Now has accessed an exclusive 5-minute-36-second CCTV footage of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest through Delhi Police sources, which police claim shows protesters turning violent during the demonstration in central Delhi last week. According to police, the footage captures sections of the crowd attacking security personnel, breaking through barricades, pelting stones, using pepper spray, overturning vehicles, damaging police vehicles and assaulting officers sitting inside them.
As per the video, police also claimed that protesters damaged public property and violated prohibitory orders imposed in the area. The protest had earlier escalated into clashes after demonstrators attempted to march towards Parliament, leading to a major security response.
The CCTV footage is now being examined by the Crime Branch as part of its ongoing investigation into the violence. Investigators are analysing the visuals along with other digital evidence to identify those allegedly involved in the clashes and damage to public property.
The Delhi Police alleged 2873 men with criminal antecedents were present at the protest site between January 20 and January 25. These criminals have been identified using FRS and through technical means. Police are investigating whether these men were involved in violence that broke out at Jantar Mantar, in and around New Delhi.
These criminals are involved in heinous crimes like sexual assault, murder and crimes involving minors (POSCO), police alleged. Some of these alleged criminals came back to the protest site repeatedly. These particular criminals have serious offences registered against them, officials said. Delhi Police have already registered multiple FIRs in connection with the violence and said further action will be taken based on evidence gathered during the probe.
People Involved in Heinous Crimes
Out of 2873 such persons, 989 persons have antecedents in heinous offences, comprising 101 involved in murder, 62 in attempt to murder, 284 in dacoity/robbery, 61 in rape, 06 in offences under the POCSO Act, 25 in molestation of women, 229 in offences under the Arms Act, 135 in snatching, 19 in kidnapping, and 67 in narcotics/NDPS-related offences.
Habitual and Repeat Offenders
The available criminal history further indicates that a significant number of the identified persons are habitual offenders, having been involved in multiple criminal cases. The details are as follows:

The data indicates that a considerable number of persons present in and around the protest sites are not merely individuals with isolated criminal antecedents but include habitual and repeat offenders, several of whom have previous involvement in grave and heinous offences such as murder, attempt to murder, dacoity/robbery, rape, offences against women, Arms Act violations, kidnapping, snatching and narcotics-related offences.
CJP Gives Another Ultimatum To Government
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday threatened the government that they will sit on protest again and file an FIR against Delhi Police if the reported FIRs or action against the protesters who were part of the Jantar Mantar protest are not withdrawn immediately. CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka alleged a breach of the agreement on the part of the government regarding no police action against the protesters.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Ashutosh Ranka said, “We are observing a complete breach of the agreement regarding no police action against the protestors. Hundreds of students have been arrested in Bihar and Bengal, and hundreds are being surveilled/harrassed in Delhi and other states. Multiple reports are emerging in Delhi around detention of volunteers supporting protestors with logistics.”
The CJP also demanded that a written agreement around legal cases be shared with them by tomorrow, along with the aligned timelines with the Government of India.
