Passengers travelling to New Delhi Railway Station are likely to face disruptions after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that New Delhi Metro Station has been closed until further instructions amid the ongoing student protests in the national capital.
In a service update, the DMRC said, “New Delhi metro station has been closed till further instructions. No interchange facility shall be available at this station.
Any inconvenience is deeply regretted.”
The closure comes as the DMRC on Friday once again shut 17 metro stations from 7:30 am until further notice due to the continuing student protest at Jantar Mantar led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). This marks the third consecutive day of metro restrictions following a massive surge in the number of protesters.
How to reach New Delhi Railway Station
If you were planning to use New Delhi Metro Station, here are some alternative options:
Get down at RK Ashram Marg, Shivaji Stadium or Chawri Bazar metro station (depending on which stations remain operational) and take an auto-rickshaw, taxi or e-rickshaw to New Delhi Railway Station.
If you are travelling by road, use app-based cabs, auto-rickshaws or DTC buses. However, expect traffic diversions and congestion in central Delhi due to the ongoing protests.
Passengers using the Airport Express Line should note that New Delhi Metro Station serves as the interchange. They may have to make alternate travel arrangements until services resume.

Thousands of students continue to gather at Jantar Mantar, where CJP leaders and volunteers are leading protests demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak. Protesters have also linked the issue to the reported suicides of 21 students.
