A torn uniform is not a licence. An injured policeman is a complainant, not a judge. If Lamba was attacked, the law gives him an FIR, a medical report, an investigation. What the law does not give him is a free hand across a woman’s face hours later, on a street, on camera. That is the whole point of a uniform: it converts private anger into public duty. Strip that away and you are left with a man settling a score with a stranger who did not injure him.
