Fleming’s day began not too early, and not too late. It was just right – at 7:30am sharp. The whole point after all, was to “wake up with the birds and bathe in the ocean.” And after his nature soaked early morning swim in the salty sea, he would head back home for breakfast. This, like the simple pleasures of his waking up drill, was minimal – scrambled eggs, though he would always take them in his garden. Fleming however, always made it a point to wrap things up by 10am. And there was a specific reason behind it. That’s because at dot 10, like clockwork, he would sit down to write a straight 1500 words, doing this in one straight go. No looking back at all. And with each day of following this routine, his writing flow just got surer and surer, something amply evident in the way the Bond series flow with grip – the former can be dedicated to his skill of weaving words, the latter to his routine.
