The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it carried out a fresh wave of offensive strikes against Iran on July 12, targeting dozens of military sites with precision-guided munitions.
In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation struck Iranian air-defence systems, coastal radar installations, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats using fighter aircraft, naval vessels, one-way attack aerial drones and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.
CENTCOM said the strikes were intended to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, adding that US forces remain prepared to safeguard freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.
