Gupta’s greatest inspiration to-date is her mother, while she credits her father, who built his career from the ground up as a general manager, for instilling in her the values of of perseverance and integrity. Her elder sister on the other hand, a software engineer, made sure she was her biggest cheerleader right through the process. She still however, recalls the nervousness she felt when sharing the decision to enter the world of pageants with her family: “I was actually the one who was scared to tell them that I wanted to switch my profession completely – from the corporate world to the glamour industry. But they were so supportive.” And that is an understatement. Her father for one, has been sharing a daily WhatsApp status of his daughter, representing the country, every single day while her sister, busy herself, always ensures Gupta knows she’s not alone. She smiles, “They understand that I may not always have time, but they still call and ask, ‘Do you have five minutes to talk?’ “
