Two of Graham Platner’s senior political strategists have urged the Democratic nominee for the US Senate in Maine to withdraw from the race following a sexual assault allegation, according to a person familiar with internal campaign discussions. The source, who spoke to Maine Morning Star on condition of anonymity, said the advisers made a final appeal to Platner on Tuesday night and that the candidate had come to terms with stepping aside. As of Wednesday, however, Platner had not formally withdrawn from the contest.
