The Indian team management didn’t hand a debut to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and he remained on the bench in both games against Ireland. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, who played a key role in India’s title win in the 2026 T20 World Cup, continued to open the innings in both games. Samson failed to open his account in both games and departed for a first-ball duck. Abhishek kicked off the series with a 20-ball 50 while he couldn’t open his account in the second T20I. Following the series, Aakash Chopra predicted that Sanju Samson could lose his spot if there’s a change in the top order.
