On Sunday, leaders of the Mamata Banerjee camp, including Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen and MLA Kunal Ghosh, visited the Dharmatala area in front of the Victoria House to begin preliminary preparations for the rally. They inspected the proposed stage location, discussed its dimensions and the position of the martyrs’ memorial, signalling that preparations had already begun even before formal permission is granted. Defending the decision to retain the traditional venue, Kunal Ghosh said the location carries immense emotional and historical significance as it is directly linked to the events of July 21, 1993. He asserted that the party would continue to observe Martyrs’ Day from the same spot every year and had no intention of shifting the venue.
