The Defence Ministry in May issued the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft to three shortlisted private consortia—Tata Advanced Systems, Larsen & Toubro-Bharat Electronics Limited, and Bharat Forge-BEML. These bidders, shortlisted earlier this year following a DRDO-led process, will each work on developing prototypes for the fifth-generation stealth fighter.
