Every year, the month of Shravan, also called Sawan, begins on the Pratipada date of the Krishna Paksha. This month is deemed as lord Shiva’s favorite month, so people worship him and perform Jalabhishek throughout the month. The Kanwar Yatra is also undertaken during this month, in which Lord Shiva is anointed with Ganga water, and Rudrabhishek is performed to pray for happiness and prosperity. The Monday fast of Sawan is especially fruitful, and Mangala Gauri fasts are observed every Tuesday. With the blessings of Shiva and Gauri, all wishes are fulfilled.
