President Trump set off a wave of confusion and concern over the weekend after posting a tribute to his “great daughter” the night before Father’s Day, attaching a photo of a woman who isn’t his daughter at all.
“Great daughter. My Honor!!! President DJT,” Trump wrote, accompanying the message with the photo.
The problem, according to the Daily Beast, is that the woman pictured is neither of Trump‘s actual daughters, Ivanka, 44, or Tiffany, 32. The mismatch immediately raised fresh questions about the 80-year-old president’s mental state.
Who’s Actually in the Photo
Internet users worked quickly to identify the woman, landing on Margo Catsimatidis, wife of billionaire retail mogul and longtime Trump ally John Catsimatidis. Based on the setting, the photo appears to have been taken at Camp David sometime during the Clinton administration, according to the Daily Beast.
The Catsimatidis family does have a daughter, Andrea Catsimatidis, who currently chairs the Manhattan Republican Party. Andrea, 36, married Christopher Cox Nixon, grandson of former President Richard Nixon, in 2011, though the couple later divorced in 2014. Their wedding drew a notable guest list at the time, including Sen. Chuck Schumer, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
It remains unclear why Trump would post a decades old photo of Margo Catsimatidis while referring to her as his “great daughter.”
Theories Spread Online
The confusing post quickly drew speculation across social media, with some users wondering whether Trump may have genuinely mistaken the woman in the photo for one of his own daughters.
Canadian podcaster Chris LaBossiere offered one theory on X. “He thinks this is Tiffany. Bank on it. America needs to have a family meeting with grandpa,” he wrote.
Political analyst Arieh Kovler raised a different question entirely, asking why Trump would be “scanning photos of Camp David from the 1990s with random blonde women.” He theorized that “he must have told some staffer to post this and nobody queried it or told him ‘that’s not your daughter.'”
Other users on X were more blunt in their reactions. “Nothing to see here. Just the President of the United States actively sundowning in real time for the entire world to see,” one wrote. Another asked, “What in the name of dementia is going on here?”
