An Italian woman has died after a fire swept through a beach resort in the Dominican Republic, forcing the evacuation of about 1,700 guests, authorities have said. Francesca Valentino, a mother of two from Italy, was the only person killed in the blaze at the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach Hotel in Bayahibe on Friday.
