When Minal Shaik Kalyan and her partner Ashritha Raju decided to enter India’s first Junior Pickleball Championship, there was no grand plan. There was curiosity. There was belief. And there was a desire to see where they stood against the country’s best young players. A few days later, they were standing on top of the podium as U18 Girls Doubles champions. For Minal, the title was another milestone in a journey that is still in its early stages. Unlike many of her rivals, the Telangana teenager has not spent years on the pickleball circuit. In fact, her relationship with the sport only began last year.
