Seeking Signs: The Catch-22 of Cosmic Reassurance

At some point, the centuries worth of persecution against divination softened into dismissal and today, is strongly evolving as a way of life for many. At one point of time, Astrology was strictly esoteric. Today, it is not only ‘trendy’ but well on its way to carving a space among mainstream interests. The Instagram algorithm takes most credit for this, as does the rising niche of ‘WitchTok’ – which neither restricts itself to just (white) ‘witchcraft’ or TikTok. As a matter of fact, the term witchcraft itself has almost entirely stopped implying the ‘dark arts’ and has emerged as more of a shorthand for anything mystical. Manifestation, moon rituals, energy cleansing, magic jars, crystal healing and even casting white magic spells now not only coexist in the mainstream but are also packaged as productivity hacks or self-love routines. Tarot readings pop up on our feeds, almost in the same volume as skincare recommendations and GRWM tutorials, so much so that cosmic messages and astrological reasoning have become a part of daily parlance.
