At one stage, the protesters threatened to disrupt the World Cup fan activities as Zócalo Square, one of the tournament’s designated public viewing areas. Despite concern over the security, thousand of fans reached the fan zone, pushing through barriers, creating a chaotic scene as they tried to gain entry.
