Each year, World Environment Day is hosted by a different country. In 2026, it is being hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan. “As host of the UN Climate Change Conference in 2024 (COP29), Azerbaijan advanced the global climate agenda, securing landmark decisions on climate finance and carbon markets, while launching initiatives linking climate action with biodiversity, energy transition, water, agriculture and societal impact,” states the Geneva Environment Network.
