A potential slide of the rupee to the 100-per-dollar mark may be grabbing headlines, but Dr Shamika Ravi, Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and a Secretary to the Government of India, believes investors and citizens are focusing on the wrong metric. Addressing concerns over the currency’s future, Ravi dismissed the psychological significance of the three-digit exchange rate, saying, “100 is just a number, Smita.”
