Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was beaten up on Saturday, allegedly by locals, when he visited West Bengal‘s Sonarpur area to meet families of post-poll violence victims, police said. In the videos that emerged from the incident, women in Sonarpur were seen holding eggs and then hurling them at Banerjee, calling him a ‘thief’ when he went to visit the family of a party worker killed in the violence.
