Russia's Medvedev Warns Europeans 'Will Not Sleep Peacefully' After Romania Drone Strike Fallout

russia's medvedev warns europeans 'will not sleep peacefully' after romania drone strike fallout

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has sharply dismissed criticism from European leaders over reports that a suspected Russian drone crashed into a residential building in Romania, telling EU countries to “shut up” and warning that similar incidents could continue as long as support for Ukraine persists.

Speaking on Russia’s social media platform Max, Medvedev said it must first be determined whose drone was involved in the incident, but argued that Western condemnation was unjustified.

“But in any case, all EU countries need to shut up on this matter,” he said. “European states are direct participants in the war against Russia, and no one is arguing about that anymore.”

Medvedev accused European nations of supplying weapons, components, and intelligence used in attacks on Russian territory, claiming they were therefore responsible for escalating the conflict.

“European drones, spare parts for them, other weapons, not to mention intelligence data, take part in attacks on our country every day,” he said, alleging that such actions lead to civilian casualties and damage inside Russia.

He also issued a warning to European publics, saying citizens “will not be able to sleep peacefully” while the war continues and suggesting further incidents could occur.

“They had better be prepared – this will continue to happen. There is a war going on!” he added.

His comments came after NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance was ready to defend “every inch” of its territory following the incident in Romania, which injured two people and prompted emergency responses from Romanian authorities. European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, condemned the strike as part of Russia’s escalating aggression in the region.

Russia has denied responsibility for the drone incident, while Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said President Vladimir Putin had been informed of the situation.
