Pickleball’s global expansion is increasingly moving beyond traditional courts and sports clubs, with the game now finding space inside the cruise tourism industry as well. Dream Cruises has announced that pickleball clinics will form part of the activities onboard the Genting Dream during the company’s 10th anniversary celebrations throughout 2026.
The initiative is included within the second chapter of the cruise line’s year-long “Celebrate The Dream” campaign, which focuses heavily on sport, wellness and fitness-themed programming between June and August.
According to the straittimes, passengers onboard selected sailings will have access to organised pickleball clinics alongside yoga, pilates and other fitness activities as the cruise company looks to tap into the sport’s growing international popularity.
The move reflects pickleball’s continued expansion into lifestyle, travel and hospitality sectors beyond its traditional recreational and competitive environments.
Across Asia, cruise operators and resorts are increasingly incorporating wellness-focused activities into travel experiences, with pickleball emerging as one of the fastest-growing additions due to its accessibility and social appeal.
Dream Cruises confirmed that the Genting Dream’s anniversary programme will also include high-intensity fitness workshops led by fitness personality Amotti during select July sailings.
However, pickleball remains one of the key participation-based sporting activities being promoted onboard as part of the company’s broader wellness push.
The Genting Dream has positioned itself as an entertainment-heavy cruise experience, combining sport, nightlife, wellness programmes and family activities across multiple itineraries throughout Asia.
The addition of pickleball clinics also reflects how the sport is increasingly becoming integrated into tourism ecosystems globally.
Over the past two years, pickleball has rapidly expanded into resorts, luxury hotels, retirement communities and travel destinations looking to attract both casual participants and fitness-focused tourists.
Industry observers increasingly view the sport as particularly attractive for hospitality businesses because it appeals across multiple age groups while requiring relatively limited infrastructure compared to other racket sports.
As pickleball’s international footprint continues growing, its presence onboard one of Asia’s major cruise experiences highlights how the sport’s influence is now extending far beyond traditional sporting environments.
