Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice or Bakrid, is the second most significant festival in the Islamic calendar after Eid al-Fitr. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion and faith in Allah, as he was willing to sacrifice his son, Ismail (Ishmael), in obedience to God’s command. However, as an act of divine mercy, Allah replaced his son with a lamb for the sacrifice, symbolising faith, sacrifice, and surrender to God’s will. While several Gulf countries will celebrate the festival tomorrow, on 27 May, it will be observed in India on 28 May. Here is a curated selection of Eid wishes, messages, images, and more to share with your loved ones.
