The WWE Universe might have to wait for another year to witness the dream match between The Rock and Roman Reigns as it is unlikely to happen at Wrestlemania 43. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio has reported that The Rock’s movie commitments will prevent him from making his in-ring return. Wrestlemania 43 will take place in Saudi Arabia in April 2027. The Rock has been a Hollywood star for more than two decades. Meltzer said that The Rock can make an appearance at Wrestlemania but won’t take part in a match.
The dream match between The Rock and Reigns was set to take place at Wrestlemania 40 but WWE was forced to change the plans due to the outpouring of support for Cody Rhodes.
Cody, who handed his main event to The Rock, took it back from the People’s Champion and faced Reigns at Wrestlemania 40. Cody finished his story and defeated the Tribal Chief
The Rock was part of Wrestlemania 40 and he teamed up with his cousin at the biggest show of the year. The Rock and Reigns defeated the team of Cody and Seth Rollins.
The Rock looked set to face Reigns at Wrestlemania 41 and also teased a match by making an appearance at Bad Blood 2024. However, the match didn’t take place.
The Brahma Bull got involved in the Cody-John Cena storyline. Cena sold his soul to The Rock and turned heel at the Elimination Chamber. The Rock shockingly decided against making an appearance at Wrestlemania 41.
Is The Rock retired?
The Rock hasn’t retired from WWE and he is expected to end his career after facing Reigns. The Rock has only had one proper match since 2013. His match at Wrestlemania 32 lasted only three seconds.
The Rock, who made his WWE debut in 1996, became one of the top stars in the next few years. His WWE success saw him become a main stream superstar and he is the most successful wrestler-turned-actor.
